abstract

background and aims: this research aimed to study a possible link between endometriosis and polymorphism of the progesterone receptor gene. materials and methods: the control group consisted of 86 women without endometriosis and the case group comprised 86 patients with a diagnosis of endometriosis by laparoscopy. genotypes for alu insertion polymorphisms (a1/a1, a1/a2 and a2/a2) were described by polymerase chain reaction and determined on a 2% agarousegel. results: the genotype frequencies of a1/a2 and a2/a2 were not significantly higher in patients than in the control group without endometriosis. on the other hand differences in the alu insertion polymorphism frequencies were not significant. conclusion: according to our investigations, we conclude that there is not a significant correlation between alu insertion polymorphism and endometriosis. ;line-height:115%'> according to our investigations, we conclude that there is not a significant correlation between alu insertion polymorphism and endometriosis.

Frequency of Polymorphism Alu Insertion in Progesterone Receptor Gene in Endometriosis

Genotypes for Alu insertion polymorphisms (A1/A1, A1/A2 and A2/A2) were descri...

Association of Alu Insertion Polymorphism in Progesterone Receptor Gene with Risk of Multiple Sclerosis

Background and purpose: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the myelin sheaths of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged. The prevalence of disease is higher in women and it seems that sex hormones, which usually exert their effects through receptors, are involved in susceptibility to MS. Considering the functional role of Alu insertion 306 bp polymorp...

Association of the Alu insertion polymorphism in the progesterone receptor gene with breast cancer in a Mexican population

INTRODUCTION The progesterone receptor (PR) gene plays an important role in reproduction-related events. Data on polymorphisms in the PR gene have revealed associations with cancer, particularly for the Alu insertion polymorphism, which has been suggested to affect progesterone receptor function and contribute to tumor promotion in the mammary gland. MATERIAL AND METHODS We examined the role ...

the study of aaag repeat polymorphism in promoter of errg gene and its association with the risk of breast cancer in isfahan region

P-202: StuI Polymorphism on the Androgen Receptor Gene in Women with Endometriosis

Background: Androgens have an anti-proliferative effect on endometrial cells. Human androgen receptor (AR) gene contains two polymorphic short tandem repeats of GGC and CAG, and a single-nucleotide polymorphism on exon 1 that is recognized by the restriction enzyme, StuI. Prior studies have shown that the lengths of the CAG and GGC repeats are inversely and linearly related to AR activity and a...

Polymorphism of the progesterone receptor gene associated with endometriosis in patients from Goiás, Brazil.

We investigated a possible link between endometriosis and polymorphism of the progesterone receptor gene (PROGINS). The endometriosis group consisted of 54 patients with a diagnosis of endometriosis by laparoscopy, and the control group comprised 44 women without endometriosis. Genotypes for PROGINS polymorphisms (A1/A1, A1/A2 and A2/A2) were determined by polymerase chain reaction and analyzed...
